I can't decide if i love or hate the shell back / egg silhouette coat for men that Balenciaga did for fall 08. On the one hand its so nice to see boundaries being pushed, the freshness, the originality is so seductive; but on the other hand I just don't know if you average Joe can make this work. But then a Balenciaga coat is not for the average Joe. Can even the most fashion forward waify androgynous slimane-esq model boy thing pull this off?

It has always been my dream to shoot with Lakshmi and Prabuddha and finally it came true. This was shot in a run down Chateau one and a half hours from Paris, right after the SS09 Paris Fashion Week. She had 102 Degrees C fever and coughing like a mad dog but still was she was so so professional and a dream to shoot with.

Its that time of the year again when one starts to incessantly watch FTV to catch the new collections or log on to style.com for the latest feed. Funny how soon they come again and again and again. Especially now that the designer's are showcasing their resort collections in full force, it seems like there is no end to fashion weeks. But these are happy times as always. So to start , here is the Burberry show. I truly adore Christopher Bailey for what he has done to brand and how he continues to do it every bloody season. I'm in love with the summer trenchs and the scooped necklines of the jersey tops plus lots of cardigans in various lenghts and most of all, the mustard colour that he has used on some of the jackets and tops. Personally, not my favourite Burberry collection but nevetheless great wearable clothes.

Way before the Lakshmi’s and the Ujjwala’s ever made it big internationally, there actually was an Indian model who did all the big International shows during the late 70’s. Her name is Kirat Young nee Kirat Bhinder, 5’11, born in Delhi and rasied in Dehradun, who had a chance meeting with Mr Laurent himself while on her holiday in Paris and immediately started modeling for him. The then 19-year-old was urged by a French journalist Dominique Brebec to go see Yves Saint Laurent, who was then scouting for fresh faces for what was to become a revolutionary collection from the YSL house of fashion. Young worked with him for 12 years and also modeled for big labels like Chanel, Armani, Versace and Valentino. She has also apparently done shoots for French and US Vogue also. Kirat is now a well regarded jewellery designer for Oscar De La Renta and Valentino and lives In Paris.

After a prolonged illness Mr Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent passed away last evening Paris local time at the age of 71. Saint Laurent had repeated bouts of depression and a fall during Paris Fashion Week in October last year. He was most recently hospitalized for a respiratory ailment.One of the greatest and most versatile designers of all time, he will be missed terribly.

So its true, Agy will not be doing Burberry anymore. After arguing with my friend about the rumour that she didn't go to the Met Ball because she had been dropped and also because Christopher Bailey had another date, who apparently is then new face of Burberry, I humbly accept I was wrong (Mr A L if you're reading this, yes I'm talking about you). Of course she (I mean this new girl) was slated to be the next Kate Moss since 2004 but still isn't, lets hope this ad does her some good. Anyway back to Agy, news is that she was dropped by photographer Mario Testino not Christopher, apparently because he feels she's over exposed.Ya, like duh but Kate Moss is too and they still used her for quite a bit until of course Agy replaced her. So in a way this new girl is the new Kate!! Oh!! her name is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Here's an article about Ali that was written in the June/July 2008 issue of Teen Vogue, "Extreme Measures."
Within the article, she delves into more explicit detail about her eating habits — during last September's show season, she was eating "oatmeal with water for breakfast, a banana and a few grapes for lunch, and plain lettuce for dinner maybe with piece of fish."
She lost her period, and "there was concern [her] ovaries had shut down." Her laxative use caused her digestive system to no longer function as it should, and now she has to take medication indefinitely. Even when she starting going to a nutritionist to improve her health, she was throwing up after meals in secret.
Finally, Ali "cracked" in January because the client who flew her in for a couture show canceled, saying she didn't have a "couture body." She focused on getting healthier and "put on a few pounds," but clients casting the February Paris shows told her she had "fat legs" and "huge ankles." She walked only one show — Yohji Yamamoto.
She says the Wall Street Journal article detailing her February show experience was a shock — she "never planned to go public." Surprising, since she is quoted in the WSJ article as saying of the Yamamoto show: "This show is special." But regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens with Ali and how the industry reacts, especially because she was so highly buzzed about before deciding to speak out.

This video seems to be the most discussed issue right now on the net. I do respect Ali Michael for speaking out but I dont think that wont change the Fashion Industry much. I also feel that the Fashion Industry is always a target when there are other important issues to think about. Ali is although the first successful model to talk about weight issues so openly after she got cut off from the Paris Fashion Week because they thought her thighs were too big. So I’m finally back in town and strangely enough it feels great. Not that I dislike Dubai but it gives me that very dry vibe, everything out there looks manmade and somehow feels very unnatural . Nevertheless it’s a great place for shopping and partying and boy, did I shop.And who knows, maybe in the near future I might be working there.
On another note, the view from my friend’s apartment where I was staying had the most fantastic view and it’s at the Dubai Marina, which is apparently “the” place to stay. T’was rather nice and close by is the Buddha bar where we went for dinner, unfortunately I forgot my camera so I have no shots of the beautiful place (the men’s loo looks fantastic but don’t get me wrong. I mean strictly for urinal purpose).

Well not exactly, Smita Lasrado has been modelling for maybe two three years but I never quite liked her until last Lakme Fashion Week where I thought she looked amazing and tranformed herself so well. I met here again this season for Saybasachi's show looking super cool and then she tells me she's not based in India anymore but in Paris. My favourite collection at the Fashion week was Sabyasachi’s collection. At this stage where there are so many Sabya wannabes he still managed to be so very unique and true to his signature style. The silhouettes were more fitted than his usual free flowing stuff but not to say there weren't a few of them loose thingys. The set was beautiful and the lighting for a change had a beautiful yellow light instead of the usual washed out white lighting. So while rummaging through the trash and the beautiful things that surrounds Pahargun,j I ended up in this little shop where they sell the most offbeat and trendiest pairs of sunglasses which you will never find anywhere else in Delhi. I found these Linda Farrow vintage sunglasses which by far are the coolest I've ever seen. I love these heart glasses but sadly it looks terrible on me. For those of you who still want to own a pair of White or Red Wayfarer Sunglasses, this is the only place where you will ever find one!!!!
